I've always been a big fan of the character, especially the Alex Raymond strips and Al Williamson comics in the late 60's and 70's. I was thrilled to be offered the position of cover artist on the series.I think people should really check that book. From what I've seen, it's going to be a fun ride (and Ross did some great work designing this stuff)
Here's the series announcement :

"Flash Gordon: Zeitgeist. The series will be written by Eric Trautmann, based on story outlines from Alex Ross. Artist Daniel Lindro is drawing the series. Ross also provided character designs and will be contributing covers for the series. Other cover artists include Ivan Reis, Paul Renaud, and Francesco Francavilla."

Very smart composition. The way everyone is posed within Ming's collar creates the dynamic upwards wedge, and the restrained sepia value of color evokes the 1930s movie reel quality. I also love your John Carter art!
Because of your professional quality I would really appreciate your critique of the flash gordon and John Carter designs on my site as well.
Check it out and be hard on me! None of the "cool! dude!" stuff that goes around.

Thanks for the kind words, Matthew.
Your work on John Carter is beautiful, especially the poster you posted there. That would do a fine cover for comics. Really.

Wonderful! Flash looking a bit like James Bama's iconic Doc Savage is a great and cool touch.

this cover reminded me of the well known star wars: a new hope poster with ming and adolph replacing vader. I live in the art mecca of wisconsin and the local comic book store still had 15 copies of the $1 issue. :(
